Sergey Tanin plays Schumann

Der junge Pianist Sergey Tanin wird aktuell zu den vielversprechendsten Pianisten seiner Generation gezählt. Erste internationale Anerkennung erlangte er beim Géza Anda Wettbewerb in Zürich, 2018 (3. Preis und Publikumspreis). Im Oktober 2020 gewann er den ersten Preis beim renommierten Kissinger KlavierOlymp. Nach seinem Debüt-Album mit Werken von Johannes Brahms, Schubert-Liszt und Sergey Prokofiev folgt jetzt ein reines Schumann-Programm: die Davidsbündler-Tänze, der «Faschingsschwank aus Wien» sowie die Toccata op. 7 und die Arabeske, op. 18. Erneut kann der Pianist hier sowohl seine interpretatorische Tiefe wie seine Musikalität und Virtuosität eindrucksvoll unter Beweis stellen. 

1995 in Sibirien/Jakutien geboren, begann Sergey Tanin im Alter von 5 Jahren mit dem Klavierspiel. Mit 11 Jahren trat er bereits mit dem Moskauer Symphonieorchester im Großen Saal des Tschaikowsky-Konservatoriums in Moskau auf. Nach seinem Abschluss 2019 am Moskauer Konservatorium (Klasse von Prof. Irina Plotnikova) studierte Sergey weiter an der Basel Musik Academie bei Claudio Martinez-Mehner. Er ist Inhaber des Exzellenzstipendiums der Schweizer Regierung und 2020 veröffentlichte das Schweizer Fernsehen (SRF) einen Dokumentarfilm über Sergey – ‚‚Der Pianist, der aus der Kälte kam‘‘.

The young pianist Sergey Tanin is currently one of the most promising pianists of his generation. He gained his first international recognition at the Géza Anda Competition in Zurich in 2018 (3rd prize and audience prize). In October 2020, he won first prize at the renowned Kissinger KlavierOlymp. After his debut album with works by Johannes Brahms, Schubert-Liszt and Sergey Prokofiev, he now follows up with a pure Schumann program: the Davidsbündler-Tänze, the «Faschingsschwank aus Wien» as well as the Toccata op. 7 and the Arabeske, op. 18. Once again, the pianist can impressively demonstrate his interpretative depth as well as his musicality and virtuosity.

Born in 1995 in Siberia/Yakutia, Sergey Tanin started to play the piano at the age of 5. At 11, he already performed with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. After his graduation in 2019 from Moscow Conservatory (class of prof. Irina Plotnikova), Sergey continued to study at Basel Musik Academie with Claudio Martinez-Mehner. He is holder of the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship and in 2020, the Swiss Television (SRF) broadcasted a documentary about Sergey – “The Pianist who came in from the Cold”.
