Die Géza Anda-Stiftung hat zum Ziel, junge, talentierte Pianist:innen im musikalischen Geist Géza Andas zu fördern. Alle drei Jahre richtet die Stiftung in Zürich den internationalen Klavierwettbewerb Concours Géza Anda aus und engagiert sich auch noch weit über das prestigeträchtige Finalkonzert und die Vergabe bedeutender Geldpreise hinaus für ihre Preisträger:innen. Dazu gehört auch die neue CD-Reihe „Géza Anda – the Legend Lives On“.
Die erste, preisgekrönte CD der Reihe enthielt bislang unveröffentlichte Archiv-Aufnahmen mit Géza Anda und dem Philharmonia Orchestra/den Wiener Philharmonikern unter Leitung von Karl Böhm.
Nun wird die Serie mit einem ersten Preisträger-Rezital fortgesetzt. Beim 16. Concours Géza Anda im Jahr 2024 vergab die Jury den ersten Preis an Ilya Shmukler, der zudem vier weitere Auszeichnungen gewann.
Der in Moskau geborene Shmukler gewann bereits mit 10 Jahren seinen ersten Musikwettbewerb – und das veränderte sein Leben: „Dort entdeckte ich das wahre Leben mit Musik, in das ich mich verliebte und das mich dazu inspirierte, ihr mein Leben zu widmen.“
Im Alter von 12 Jahren gab er sein erstes Rezital, mit 14 Jahren debütierte er mit einem Orchester; seitdem ist er als Solist in Europa und Nordamerika aufgetreten. Neben dem Concours Géza Anda ist Ilya Preisträger zahlreicher internationaler Klavierwettbewerbe.
Der Absolvent des Moskauer Staatlichen Tschaikowsky-Konservatoriums setzt derzeit seine Studien an der Park University (USA) und an der Escuela superior de música in Madrid fort. Sein Lehrer Stanislav Ioudenitch charakterisierte ihn als „einen außergewöhnlich talentierten Pianisten mit einer einzigartigen Mischung aus Fantasie und Individualität“.
The Géza Anda Foundation is dedicated to supporting young, talented pianists in the musical spirit of Géza Anda. Every three years, the foundation hosts the international piano competition Concours Géza Anda in Zurich. Its commitment to the prize winners extends well beyond the prestigious final concert and the awarding of significant monetary prizes. This also includes the new CD series Géza Anda – The Legend Lives On.
The first, award-winning CD in the series featured previously unreleased archive recordings with Géza Anda and the Philharmonia Orchestra / Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Karl Böhm.
Now, the series continues with its first winner’s recital. At the 16th Concours Géza Anda in 2024, the jury awarded first prize to Ilya Shmukler, who also received four additional prizes.
Born in Moscow, Shmukler won his first music competition at the age of 10 — a moment that changed his life: “That was when I discovered the true life with music, a life I fell in love with and that inspired me to devote myself to it.”
At the age of 12, he gave his first recital, and at 14, he made his debut with an orchestra. Since then, he has performed as a soloist across Europe and North America. In addition to the Concours Géza Anda, Ilya has received numerous awards at international piano competitions.
A graduate of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, he is currently continuing his studies at Park University (USA) and the Escuela Superior de Música in Madrid. His teacher, Stanislav Ioudenitch, described him as “an extraordinarily gifted pianist with a unique blend of imagination and individuality.”
